01

How to install Notchi

Download the latest stable installer, run it, and launch Notchi from the Start menu.

  1. 1

    Download the installer

Get the latest stable version from this site or the GitHub releases page.

  2. 2

    Run the installer

The per-user installer starts right away and does not need administrator rights.

  3. 3

    Launch Notchi

The notch appears at the top of your screen. Hover over it to expand.

02

Verify the installer

Every release lists a SHA-256 checksum. Download the installer, run the command below in PowerShell, then compare both hashes.

If the hashes do not match, delete the file and download it again from GitHub.

SHA-256 checksum

671d2974e18dfec05b4d40e5a9d8833a8255170d2ea8b0fc9fdf22dfdadb818a

Verify in PowerShell

Run this command in PowerShell and compare the hash with the one above.

            Get-FileHash .\NotchiSetup-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256

03

SmartScreen and unsigned installers

Notchi is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning. This is expected for new, unsigned software. You can verify the SHA-256 checksum before running the installer.

Start with Windows

Open Notchi settings and enable Start with Windows. You can turn it off again at any time.

Notes and data

Notes are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Notchi. Notes from older versions are migrated automatically.

Uninstall Notchi

Open Windows Settings, go to Apps → Installed apps, select Notchi and choose Uninstall. Your notes are kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Notchi unless you remove them manually.
